Our story
A family-run brunch and handmade chunky-cookie shop, baking fresh in-house every day across Budapest, Bucharest and Belgrade. #webelieveinhandmade.
We're Cookie Beacon — a family who went chasing good cafecitos around the world and ended up falling head over heels for brunch. Everything we serve is made by hand, fresh on-site, because we believe in handmade.
It started with a coffee (and a craving)
The whole thing began with a simple family habit: hunting down the best little cafecitos wherever we travelled. One good coffee led to another, and somewhere along the way we realised what we really loved wasn't just the cup in front of us — it was the whole slow, generous ritual of brunch. A proper plate, a strong coffee, no rush. We wanted to build a place that felt exactly like that.
Why we opened Cookie Beacon
So in 2021 we opened our first café in Budapest, and the idea was clear from day one: brunch with a twist, made fresh on the spot, with real care for everyone at the table — generous portions, proper vegan and veggie options, and reduced seed oils in our vegan dishes. That little corner caught on faster than we ever expected, and before long we were opening up in Bucharest and Belgrade too.
Brunch, cookies and a whole lot of butter
What we do today is exactly that: brunch with a twist, specialty coffee and mimosas, and the handmade chunky cookies we bake in-house every single day — real butter, loaded with Belgian chocolate, Nutella, Lotus or Dulce de Leche. There's our cheesecake too, made the same way: by hand, no shortcuts. Pet-friendly, walk-ins only, no reservations — just come as you are. Since 2021, three cities and counting, and the same belief behind all of it.
