Brunch in Budapest, at two brunch spots
Cookie Beacon runs two central Budapest brunch spots on the same all-day menu: the original by St. Stephen’s Basilica in Lipótváros, and our second home on Ferenciek tere in Belváros, at the Váci utca end of the square. Both open Mon–Fri 08:00–17:00 and Sat–Sun 09:00–17:00, both are walk-ins only, and both bake chunky cookies in-house all day. Which one is yours depends on where your morning starts: the Basilica spot sits in the sightseeing heart between Andrássy Avenue and Deák Ferenc Square, while Ferenciek tere catches you by the river, Elizabeth Bridge and the Váci utca shops.
Brunch near St. Stephen’s Basilica — Hercegprímás u. 15
What it is: the original Cookie Beacon, open since 2021, a two-minute walk from St. Stephen’s Basilica at Hercegprímás u. 15, 1051 Budapest.
Why guests pick it: the plates people name most often in their Google reviews are the Eggs Benedict on Cheddar-Scones and the chunky cookies, and the room runs fast — even at Saturday peak, documented walk-in waits stay around 10–20 minutes.
Our tip: Eggs Benedict on Cheddar-Scones (Ft 4,600) with an espresso (Ft 900). On weekends, arrive before 10:00 or after 14:00 for the easiest table.
Hours: Mon–Fri 08:00–17:00 · Sat–Sun 09:00–17:00 · walk-ins only.

Brunch at Ferenciek tere 1 — Belváros, by Váci utca
What it is: our second Budapest brunch spot, right on Ferenciek tere at the Elizabeth Bridge end of Váci utca, next to the Franciscan Church — same kitchen, its own pavement terrace under straw parasols.
Why guests pick it: it’s the room to step into when the Váci utca crowds get a bit much, and its Google reviews keep coming back to the terrace and the service.
Our tip: coffee costs a little less here — espresso Ft 790, flat white Ft 1,490 — so make it your cookie-and-coffee stop between the river and the shops.
Hours: Mon–Fri 08:00–17:00 · Sat–Sun 09:00–17:00 · walk-ins only.

What to order
Start with hearty brunch — creative plates made fresh on-site from locally-sourced ingredients, with proper, generous portions. We’re big on vegan and vegetarian cooking (and in our vegan dishes we cut right back on the seed oils), so there’s plenty here whatever you eat.
Then the cookies. We bake our chunky handmade cookies in-house every day with real butter and good chocolate — Belgian chocolate, Nutella, Lotus, Dulce de Leche — thick and crisp on the outside, gooey in the middle. Pair one with a specialty coffee or a mimosa, or try a slice from our Cheesecake by Cookie Beacon line.

Where it all began
Budapest is home. Our first brunch spot opened on Hercegprímás utca in 2021, in the heart of Lipótváros, and it’s still the place we measure everything else against. After years chasing little coffees around the world and falling hard for brunch, this is the corner where we decided to stop and build something of our own.
Wander out from the Basilica and you’re between the grand sweep of Andrássy Avenue, the Hungarian State Opera, the buzz of Deák Ferenc Square and, a little further on, the Danube Promenade. It’s a lovely pocket of the city to land in mid-morning, coffee in hand.
